I think that's why it is so important to have it blend into and accentuate a trailer, rather than make a statement. For every person that enjoys the song in the RBC trailer, I have a feeling just as many will be turned off by it. Probably not the intended effect.

I don't know if I would be compelled to read any book based solely on a trailer; however, some trailers would make me very conscious of a book being out there, and probably get me to give it a shot if I were out browsing for something to read.

It's kind of like food advertising: McDonald's doesn't necessarily need you to go to their restaurant every time you eat for their advertising to be considered successful. If you simply consider McDonald's when you are going out for fast food, and eat there 1 out of every 3 times, it has worked. Similarly, if I shop for books 3 times a month, and even once pick up a book for which I've seen/enjoyed the trailer and give the back jacket a read, I think that means the trailer worked.

Thank you, as always :), for stopping by! I'm glad you suggested the trailer, because it was a fun watch.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00273059558675234923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6000518581959626200.post-87044264541599095202010-12-04T02:13:45.741-06:002010-12-04T02:13:45.741-06:00loved your thoughts on these two trailers :)
Than...loved your thoughts on these two trailers :)

Thanks for looking at the rosie black one. I agree with liking the illustrated feel - but I didn;t mind the music *shrugs*

That clockwork angel one is pretty brilliant. I really loved watching it. I can't fault it either. Although it didn't make me feel compelled to read the book :)Nomeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07995363401476834241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6000518581959626200.post-59429126332209346142010-12-03T17:15:57.231-06:002010-12-03T17:15:57.231-06:00@ Nicole: Glad I wasn't the only one ... didn&...@ Nicole: Glad I wasn't the only one ... didn't mean to give you a headache, btw.

You won't have to keep an eye out for Clockwork ... if you get anywhere near the YA section at any major bookstore it'll club you in the face and take your money. :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00273059558675234923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6000518581959626200.post-19257748482382364672010-12-03T17:09:25.367-06:002010-12-03T17:09:25.367-06:00Top trailer I muted after 2secs, I also found the ...Top trailer I muted after 2secs, I also found the words 'coming in' to each shot gave me a headache (no jokes, sitting here squinting now :( ). Nope wouldn't even consider reading it.

The second trailer - LOVED the soundtrack. Didn't like some of the lines they sounded too cheesy.
